Back when I had only a Savage and no saddlebags, I had a home made sissy bar about 3 feet tall. Everything strapped to the bar and rested on the seat or the tail light. When I rode two up half the gear was on the back of the bar and the other half on the front forks. Everything held by bungee cords hooked onto anything I could find.
